Labels
A shared vocabulary for tasks across the whole workspace.
Administrators only — because a vocabulary everyone can extend stops being shared.

What a label is
A name and a colour. Any task in any department can carry any label, and the table shows how many do.
Labels cut across departments on purpose. urgent means the same thing in KSRTC as in Water Transport, and that is what makes filtering by it worth doing.
Creating one
New label takes a name and a colour from a fixed set. The fixed set is intentional — it keeps labels legible against both the light and dark themes, and stops a workspace accumulating fourteen near-identical greens.
Renaming
Renaming a label updates it everywhere, because tasks reference the label rather than holding a copy of its name.
Deleting
Deleting removes it from every task that carried it. The task count in the table is there so you know the size of that before you do it.
Labels or epics?
Both group work, and the distinction is worth keeping:
- A label is a property —
urgent,compliance,public-facing. A task can have several, and labels cross departments. - An epic is a body of work with totals and progress. A task has one, and it belongs to a department.
If you find yourself totalling up a label, you wanted an epic.
